About Visitor Center for the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is located in the northwestern corner of Michigan’s lower peninsula, along the eastern shore of Lake Michigan. The park is home to towering sand dunes, lush forests, and crystal-clear lakes. Visitors can explore miles of trails, climb the dunes, or relax on the beach. The Lakeshore also offers amazing views of the lake, islands, and surrounding countryside. There are plenty of activities to enjoy, such as kayaking, fishing, camping, and swimming. Whether you’re looking for a day trip or an extended vacation, Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is the perfect place to escape and experience the beauty of nature.

The national park encompasses a 35-mile stretch of Lake Michigan’s northeastern shoreline and North and South Manitou Islands. View the Map
