Stop 1Mari VineyardsStart your tasting journey in style at Mari Vineyards, perched high above the East Bay with sweeping views and Tuscan-inspired architecture. All grapes are locally grown, and Mari is known for their innovative use of hoop houses to grow reds that usually prefer a warmer climate. The tasting room offers a lovely selection of small plates to snack on while you sip, making it a relaxed and delicious experience.
Mari also offers a variety of elevated tasting experiences—and I’d be happy to help arrange one. The pièce de résistance is their 90-minute private Tour and Tasting experience, priced at $90 per person. At the end of this guided tour, you’ll be treated to a wine tasting in the stunning cave lounge, complete with shareable snacks to enhance the flavors. STOP 3Old Mission DistillingNow that you’ve had wine and beer, it’s time to cap off your libation trifecta with a taste of locally crafted spirits at Old Mission Distilling. Tucked into a quiet corner of the peninsula, this newer distillery has quickly made a name for itself with small-batch vodka, gin, and bourbon that showcase the purity of Northern Michigan’s ingredients. Try a mini cocktail flight or sip neat to appreciate the craftsmanship. The tasting room is cozy, with staff happy to chat about the process behind each pour.
STOP 4Local Yokels Farm MarketAs a bonus stop, before heading home, make one last quick visit to Local Yokals Farm Stand. This roadside gem is stocked with seasonal produce, homemade jams, local honey, and snacks perfect for tomorrow’s breakfast.
