About the Snow Moon Retreat
Wander’s winter retreat is a cozy winter escape designed to spark warmth, creativity, and connection in the heart of snowy Northern Michigan.
Nestled in charming cabins surrounded by serene winter landscapes, this retreat blends soul-soothing yoga and sound baths with invigorating cold plunges and the restorative heat of a mobile sauna and hot tubs under the stars. Guests will also enjoy snowshoeing, a pasta-cooking class (gluten-free included), and exploring their creativity through watercolor journaling and photography classes. Like embers glowing together in the cold, this retreat invites you to gather, restore, and ignite your inner light.

SO MANY THINGS! Two moments that stood out were arriving on Friday and Vin/Yin. It was super relaxing to end our travels with a drink at Lake Ann Brewing, then come to soak in the hot tub and settle into the coziest cabin ever. Ahhh.
The Vin/Yin was a fun routine and I liked the contrast of sweating while watching snow fall outside. The lavender eye pillow savasana was magical.
The sound baths were a new experience for me and SO COOL!

Meet your Host – Deb Lanning the owner of Wander with Direction
Hi there! I am inspired life enthusiast and passionate about creating unique experiences that generate opportunities for people to enjoy life, and explore both themselves, and our beautiful world.
I’m a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher, Certified in Sound Healing, and BFA Artist. I love to create inspiring, theme-rich yoga classes, encourage people slow down with a sound bath, and help them enjoy and develop creative skills like watercolor painting.
Lastly, I’m thrilled to be hosting the second annual Snow Moon Retreat. This special gathering is designed to enjoy and embrace winter.

Meet Co-Yoga Teacher – Josh Hartman
Josh’s yoga journey began on the road, living out of a tiny camper and visiting studios across the country. Drawn to slower, grounding practices like yin, gentle, and hot yoga, he discovered how a few minutes of movement and meditation each morning could completely shift his life. Yoga helped him cultivate mobility, strength, confidence, and a deep sense of inner steadiness.
Inspired to share these transformative benefits with others, Josh earned his RYT-200 certification in Santa Cruz, California. After settling in Traverse City, he continued his education and completed his 500-hour training through the Yen 300-Hour Inspired Life program. Today, he loves guiding students through practices that blend stillness, mindfulness, and embodied exploration.
Beyond the mat, Josh is passionate about sound healing—creating meditative soundscapes with the handpan, bowls, drum, and nature-inspired rhythms. He’s also an avid cold plunger, finding clarity, resilience, and community in the daily ritual of connecting with cold water.
When he’s not teaching, you’ll find Josh unicycling around town, photographing the dunes, or rock climbing—always exploring, always learning, always moving with intention.

SUGGESTED READINGMoonlight GratitudeMoonlight Gratitude offers soothing meditations that quiet the mind and invite restful sleep through calming imagery and gentle reflection. It’s a perfect fit for the Snow Moon Retreat, where winter’s stillness encourages renewal. My hope is that the book’s poetic visuals will inspire our watercolor journaling, guiding participants to translate words of gratitude and calm into soft colors, shapes, and textures on the page.
